Sydney Minar

Sydney studied biomedical engineering at the University of California, Irvine. She grew up in Thousand Oaks California with her parents, older sister, and dachshund named Sadie. Throughout her childhood, she was always interested in math and science, especially biology. Her father is an aerospace engineer and encouraged her to follow in his footsteps by showing his excitement for the work he was developing when he came home each day. Because of her interest in biology and medicine, she decided to study biomedical engineering and immerse herself in different research opportunities on campus. She joined a research lab in the school of medicine on the UCI campus studying retinal degeneration. She performed signal analysis on acquired rat EEG signals and worked to optimize and debug the code. After a year, she moved on to join the Syroto Bioprinters team, where she has stayed ever since.
